Small Repairs to A Bullwhip

If you damage your bullwhip it does not mean a parting of the ways or an excessive bill as there are plenty of day to day repairs that you will be able to carry out yourself.  If it is the end of the whip you are bound to fear the worst but it is really not that much to worry about as most whips tend to have problems with the fall. It may seem worrying when the fall is broken but when you consider the whole purpose of the fall is to make sure that the braided pieces do not get damaged, then it proves that it has  been doing  a good  job. The popper could easily damage the braided section if the fall is not there to protect it, so if you do have a damaged fall you should correct it as soon as you can. It will save you money in the long run.
The fall is also a cheap piece of equipment to replace and it is certainly going to cost a lot less to carry out the work here that it would be if you let the thong get damaged and then have to replace that. Having a strong and sturdy fall is the sign of a good and well looked after bullwhip.
It is hardly surprising that the fall gets damaged when you consider how harshly they can be treated. They get full of muck from the floor and if this is not removed, can start eating away at the fibres leaving the rest of the bullwhip in a very sorry state. As the age, they become dry even if they are cleaned regularly and the harder the whip is cracked, the worse the damage will be. Once this happens, the whip will be at risk of further damage and it may then be the case that it is not economical to carry out more and more repairs.
The popper can also damage the fall by pulling a piece out of it and before you know it, there is nothing left to protect the rest of the whip.  The popper itself can get damaged but again the good news is that there is no reason why you should not carry out this repair yourself as well.
It is easy to replace the popper by just wrapping it around the fall and making sure it is secure. Wrap round once and then slip the popper through the loop and as long as you pull it tightly enough it will not slip off and you will be able to use your bullwhip for a long time before you have to start thinking about making any further repairs to it.
